AMD Introduces new G-Series “Kabini” SoC

Details of new G-Series “Kabini” SoC officially revealed

AMD announced its new G-Series SoC based on next-generation CPU architecture “Jaguar”. The AMD Embedded G-Series is a strategic SOC by AMD to position in high-growth markets focused on embedded systems outside the PC industry. The announcement was made this year at DESIGN West expo. Increasingly, embedded systems are leading intelligence to new areas of our lives, from the Smart TVs and set-top boxes for interactive digital signage and informational kiosks.

These advances enable greater productivity, connectivity and are an important driver for the growing Computer Surround. The above advances can be made possible only through latest generation single-chip solutions, SoC that offer smaller size and higher performance with greater efficiency.

Performance of AMD G-Series Kabini APU

AMD G-Series Kabini SoC sets a new standard for SOC design and offers increased performance compared to previous generation AMD G-Series APU codenamed Zacate. Moreover, it will offer a bonus of up to 125% compared with Intel Atom. The new platform also includes support for DirectX ® 11.1 graphics APIs, OpenGL and OpenCL ™ 1.2 4.2x 2 which enables parallel processing (GPGPU) and high performance graphics.

Highlights of AMD G-Series Kabini APU

It implies a performance improvement of up to 20% over the previous AMD G-Series APU and 5 times more performance than Intel Atom. The new processor family delivers superior performance per watt, in the category of compatible low-power 9W-25W5 options. This includes:

  • Memory Support Error-Correction Code (ECC) business class
  • Industrial temperature range of -40 ° C to +85 ° C and is available with dual or quad CPU core
  • GPU AMD Radeon ™ discrete class
  • Control I / O

AMD G-Series Kabini APU will be out soon
