ASUS announces ROG Ares II video card
Asus has recently launched its latest flagship video card in ROG series called Asus ROG ARES II. It is the card which features two Radeon HD 7970 GHz GPUs.
It features unique custom closed-loop external cooling and provides CrossFire performance in a dual-slot configuration. It is claimed that the above limited edition video card will provide fastest and strongest performance.
Features of Asus ROG ARES II
Asus ROG ARES II is equipped with 6GB GDDR5 memory and features exclusive combination of water-cooled and air-cooled hybrid thermal design, excellent heat dissipation and stable efficiency.
It is believed that Asus ROG ARES II is the fastest graphics card that outperforms existing GeForce GTX 690 video card by some 13 percent. It features 1,100MHz boost clock and 1,050MHz base clock.
Moreover, it includes 2 x 384-bit memory interface and support ASUS DIGI + VRM digital voltage adjustment.
ASUS ROG GPU Tweak tuning software will allow users to perform implementation of graphics card, overclocking and tuning directly. Also it has intuitive management interface that will allows users to easily release the complete performance of ARES II.
ASUS ROG Ares II has got an excellent organic look and it resembles like Dairy Milk. Moreover, the card measures 11.8″ in length, 5.5″ in width and 1.8″ in depth. The radiator measures 4.6″ in length, 5.8″ in width and 1.9″ in depth. The length of tube is 13.4″ and the fans are 120mm.
What’s new in Asus ROG ARES II?
The hardware of ASUS ROG Ares II is built around ASUS’ Republic of Gamers standard by using 20-phase Super Alloy Power and DIGI +VRM. The on board capacitors used in ARES II has higher quality than other SAP capacitors, hence it provides longer life span and good temperature endurance. In order to eliminate coil whine, the card includes Super Alloy Chokes.
Asus ROG ARES II over PowerColor Devil 13
PowerColor HD 7990 Devil 13 is a video card from another manufacturer which has similar characteristics as ASUS ROG ARES II. It is the first video card to include dual GPU in CrossFire in a single video card format.
But there is quite difference between both the cards.
ASUS II offers increased speed and it has dual GPU, GDDR5 RAM and hybrid cooling system. However, it is notable that HD 7990 supports DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI connections, whereas Ares II supports only DVI and DisplayPort.
